- A major aircraft engine manufacturer was looking
for ways to increase the productivity of the combustion rings manufacturing,
which was holding back a whole production line. Compumachine designed,
built and installed (turnkey project) a specialized drilling machine
using Flex-Shaft multi-spindle system manufactured by SUHNER Corp.
and a FANUC Power Mate motion control system. Machining time was
reduced from 1 hour 40 minutes to 10 minutes.
- A saphire crystal manufacturer was looking
for a solution to automate the process of cutting laser lenses.
Compumachine design and built a specialized dual-spindle lathe,
using an engine lathe base and an Allen-Bradley 9/230 CNC. This
allowed almost triple the productivity and cut the amount of scrap
by half.
- Springfield Mold Works of Westfield, MA, a
large mold maker, had a manual/motorized 35-year-old bridge mill
with a table 7 feet by 15 feet. Compumachine converted this machine
into a full 3-axis CNC machine, including all new AC servo drives
and spindle systems. New, specially- designed ball-screws replaced
the old rack and pinion mechanism. Completed with a new Autocon
(formally known as Dynapath) Delta series CNC and a brand new spindle
head, the cost was a fraction of the price quoted for similar new
machine.
