Stability and accuracy under heavy cutting loads Click for detail image
The Compumill HMC-410 is built form heavy-walled rib-reinforced, iron castings. A heavy-duty spindle, rigidly mounted in the counter-balanced spindle head, provides long service life and vibration-free operation. The design incorporates anti-friction linear guide ways and large, 40 mm precision ball-screws that are pre-loaded and fully supported on both ends. The machine is fully enclosed with an automatic door for pallet exchange. Angled telescoping way covers direct chips and coolant away from the work area to the chip trough or optional chip conveyor.

World-Class CNC Manufactured to function in a typical production or job-shop environment, Fanuc's world-renowned reliability and latest CNC technology are standard equipment. The new 18iM control uses a high-speed Click for detail image digital AC spindle motor and intelligent servo system. The heavy-duty spindle delivers optimum stability at any speed using precision angular contact bearings. Spindle speeds range from 20 to 8,000 RPM (12,000 RPM optional) in 1 RPM increments over the entire range suing direct S code input. The Fanuc Alpha 18P spindle drive is rated at 12 horsepower continuous and 15 horsepower for 30 minutes. The standard spindle uses CAT-40 tools (BT-40 is optional) with spindle orientation. Belleville springs ensure positive tool retention, and an automatic air blast through the spindle prevents contamination from chips or coolant.

Greater tool capacity means greater part flexibility. The HMC-410's high-capacity, 40-position tool (60-tool capacity optional) changer provides part flexibility and multiple setup capabilities you simply won't achieve with lower capacity machines. The system delivers tool-to-tool times of 1.8 seconds. Click for detail image Side mounting protects the tools from flying chips and coolant and permits larger fixtures.

Fast-acting, rotary pallet changer maximizes machine utilization A double-ended arm quickly exchanges the two 16.14 inch square pallets that are standard on the HMC-410. The inactive pallet rests on a rotary stand to provide access to all four sides during set-up. An automatic door separates the loading station from the working zone and enhances operator safety.

Rotary Tables accommodate complex operationsClick for detail image Click for detail image
A curvic coupling provides positive positioning and clamping for the HMC-410's rotary table. The table index provides 360 positions, easily accommodates full loads, and indexes at 20 RPM. (An optional, fully-contouring, rotary table is also available). In conjunction with the integral pallet system, Each table has a load carrying capacity of 825lb and accommodates fixtures up to 25.5 inches in diameter and 28.75 inches high.
