1980 - Introduction of
the first conversational retrofit kit for a standard Bridgeport milling
machine. Added 3-axis automation with full 3D capability for under $20,000.00
1981 - Introduction of
the first Compumill milling center, a 40-taper, fully-capable, heavy-duty
CNC machining for under $40,000.00
1982 - Expansion of the
Compumill CNC milling center line to 4 models, all under $50,000.00
1983 - Introduction of
one of the first fully PC-based CAM systems on an Apple platform (MEGAN).
The 2D version complete with Apple IIe computer sold for under $10,000.00.
1984 -
Introduction of one of the first IBM-platform, PC-based CAM systems
- COMPUCAM*,
complete with the PC for under $10,000.00.
1985 - Introduction of
the first bed-type milling center, the COMPUMILL 5000B, with a 7.5 hp,
6,000 rpm spindle for under $50,000.00.
1986 - Introduction in
New England of the first complete machining center with a 15 hp, 10,000
rpm spindle, the Fadal VMC-40, for under $50,000.00.
1987 - Expansion of
the Fadal Vertical machining center to 4 models, up to 40 inches or
travel, all under $70,000.00.
1988 - Retrofits and
rebuilds of large machining and turning centers using the Dynapath conversational
CNC for under $100,000.00.
1990 - Completed over
1,000 installations of PC-based CAM systems, Compumill CNC milling centers,
retrofits and rebuilds and Fadal machining centers.
1995 - With full-service
applications, and one of the largest customer support groups in New
England, Compumachine has over 2,000 installations from Ma and Pa job
shops to names like Polaroid, Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky Aircraft, G.E.,
Sylvania, Raytheon, Teradyne, Rockwell International and Northwest Airlines.
1996 - Expansion of the
distributor product line to include CNC turning and EDM.
1997 - Introduction of
the Compumill HMC-410, a fully-automated, twin-pallet horizontal machining
center in collaboration with Kasahara Machinery of Sanjo City, Niigata,
Japan. Priced under $200,000.00.
1998 - Acquisition of
Kasahara Machinery in Sanjo City, Niigata, Japan. Formation of CKM,
Compumill-Kasahara Machinery, a subsidiary of Compumachine.
1999 - Opening of the
Compumachine Japan office in Tokyo. Mr. Tatsuro Yamamoto named president
of Compumachine, Japan.
1999 - Introduction of
Vibra-Free Ultra High Speed Hard Milling system in collaboration with
FMC of Niigata, Japan. The Vibra-Free, serving the mold, die, and graphite
electrode market, is priced under $200,000.00
2002 - Compumachine
announces full service, parts and distribution of Giddings & Lewis HBM, VTC,
full line of HMC and Hüller Hille Hessapp high production machines
throughout New England.
2004 - Introduce VIBRA-FREE
HD Ultra-High-Speed-Hard-Milling center. This 2nd generation heavy
duty VIBRA-FREE delivers practical low RPM roughing with HSK
63 tooling while maintains 24,000 to 30,000 top RPM for high speed
finishing.
2006 - Compumachine signs
exclusive agreements with Emco Maier, Okamoto, Enshu and Clausing. Complete
line of
machine tools from small manual lathes and grinders to sophisticated
palletized Horizontal Machining Systems and multiple spindle turning systems.
2007 - Compumachine moves
into state of the art 25,000 square foot facility in Danvers, Mass.
complete with training facilities, fully stocked spare parts room
and rapid customer
support facilities.
Adjoining building houses Cunningham Engineering who with 42 machines
from Compumachine, is a testament to Compumachine's long standing
relationships with job shops who grew with Compumachine.
* COMPUCAM
is known today as MasterCAM. Mark Summers, one of the two founders
of Mastercam,
was Compumachine's first employee.
